        On March 12, 2019, 10:00-12:00am,Daan Liang, the Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering (CECE) of Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering at Texas Tech University, Director of the National Wind Institute, was invited by Lin Yang to give an academicspeech entitled "Examination of Disaster Resilience at Multiple Scales with an Interdisciplinary Approach".

                                                                                           



        In the seminar, Prof. Liang started from the key issues of hurricane disaster risk, and carried out various aspectsincluding windstorms disaster resilience modeling, hurricane resilience index, tornado warning communication, Agent-based modeling, industry-academic collaboration, and closing remarks on future trends. He built a theoretical framework from disaster risk causes and disaster resilience models which can improve group disaster resilience to reduce risk loss. Prof. Liang'sspeech was approachable but profound as well as sparkle with fit.

                                                                                             


        At last, Prof. Liang gave a brief introduction to the Texas Tech University, research team building, and postgraduate training mode, and welcomedfuture exchange and cooperate with Texas Tech University.


        Teachers and students of our school who attended the seminar were highly inspired by Prof. Liang’s presentation andraised a number of questions. Professor Liang gave patient and meticulous answers. Everyone expressed his approval and benefited a lot.
