Lecture Content:

The most closely related disaster is the civil engineering disaster. The report focuses on the definition, scope, characteristics, causes, disaster mechanism, and the ultimate goal and technical approach to mitigate and defend civil engineering disasters.



Introduction to lecturer:

Xie Lili, born in March 10,1938, is the honorary director of Engineering Mechanics Institute of China Seismological Bureau, the professor and PhD supervisor of Civil Engineering School at Harbin Institute of Technology, the chair of China Earthquake Engineering Federation. He has been entitled as the honorary professor, part-time professor and visiting professor in more than 10 universities and institutes, including Beijing University of Technology, Southeast University, Guangzhou University, Hunan University, South China University of Technology, Lanzhou University, Nanjing University of Technology, Tianjin University, Tongji University, Wuhan University of Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University. In addition, he has been elected as the Academic Committee honorary director and director of state-/provincial-level key laboratories in many universities, such as Tongji University, North University, Guangzhou University, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, Southwest Jiaotong University.

In 1994, Xie Lili was elected as the first group of academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. In 2006, he was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
