Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering

 

Training Target

1. The students must master the basic principles of Marxism, foster the correct views on life, abide on discipline and law, be honest and faithful, have a good spirit of professionalism, and take initiative to adapt to national economic construction and social development.


2. The basic theories and systematic specialized courses in the field of disaster prevention and mitigation engineering must be mastered. The students must have international academic views and keep pace with the forward dynamic trends of the discipline concerned, have spirits of innovation and ability to solve the complex engineering and technical problems.


3. At least one foreign language must be grasped. The students must have strong ability to write and attend international academic exchanges.

  3. Building fire prevention theory and technology

  4. Engineering structure vibration control

  5. Engineering disaster monitoring and prevention


Period of schooling

The period of schooling is usually 3 years and no longer than 4 years. It is not allowed to graduate ahead within two years.


Curriculum and credit

According to the expected cultivation type, students choose the compulsory courses and elective courses related to research direction under the guidance of their tutors. Total credits must be no less than 42, and total course credits should also be no less than 22. Teaching methods are divided into lectures and discussion. Evaluation method contains the examination and inspection. Results attained at grade C- or above are recognized as passing the exam.

 

Training Methods

Tutors and their groups take responsibility for the students. Every student should develop the personal cultivation plan under the guidance of his/her tutor, including the study of the discipline concerned, extensive literature, scientific research plan and academic dissertation.


The process of the cultivation of students is divided into two parts. At the first phase, students are mainly engaged in studying. At the second stage, students are required to writing scientific dissertation.
